News is getting out around the nation about how National Louis University’s Veterans Program provides holistic support for military-connected students.
Seattle-area news columnist Mike Schindler, who is also CEO of Operation Military Family, a veteran-centric consulting firm, praised NLU’s wraparound model of support in his April 26 post in MyEdmondsNews.com.
He interviewed NLU’s Paul Knudtson, Director of Armed Services Relations, about the eight services National Louis provides to help military-connected students get into NLU, overcome obstacles to staying in school, graduate and find employment.
The services include financial support, mental health/social services, curriculum advising, physical health, legal services, academic support, spiritual services and career services.
Knudtson told Schindler that the wraparound model has yielded an impressive 34 percent improvement in student retention rates, and an 87 percent employment rate.
“NLU’s dedication and focus on veterans and military-connected families is quickly establishing them as a leader among thousands of colleges who have yet to embrace veterans or their families as a specific market to attract,” Schindler wrote.
