Find Out Who Won Faculty, Staff Awards of Excellence NLU presented awards for teaching, service and scholarship

Hundreds of National Louis University faculty and staff waited with anticipation on Sept. 8 to learn who would win this year’s awards for faculty and staff excellence.

Prof. Dan Buckman, Ed.D., a past winner of the Teaching Award of Excellence, announced the winners at the Fall Connections gathering, a kickoff to the fall quarter.

NLU Donates School Supplies to School District 21 in Wheeling Area


Arlene Rodriguez, an NLU Student Ambassador, left, and Pauline DeGrazia, Wheeling Campus Manager, pack donated school supplies for District 21. Rodriguez graduated from Elk Grove High School and is a sophomore studying Criminal Justice at NLU.

Children in Community School District 21 whose parents struggled with the cost of school supplies are off to a great start this school year, thanks to National Louis University employees and students.

They collected two large boxes of pens, paper, folders, erasers, pencils, markers, scissors and other supplies.

’40 Under 40′ List of Chicago Latinos Names NLU’s Ramos Negocios Now Bilingual Newspaper Creates Its First Such List

140407-MONICA-RAMOS-008Negocios Now, a business-oriented Hispanic newspaper in Chicago, has named NLU’s Monica Ramos to its inaugural list of “Latinos 40 Under 40 in Chicago.”

Ramos is in good company, since the list also includes Jose Abreu, first baseman for the Chicago White Sox; Carina Sanchez, Chicago’s deputy clerk; Silvana Tabares, Illinois state representative from the 21st district; Dan Ponce, a WGN-TV news anchor; Julio C. Rodriguez, president of Dulcelandia Candy Stores, Susana Meza, vice president of Wintrust Bank, and other notables. Continue reading »

It’s always nice to receive a little extra recognition for hard work. Several NLU faculty and staff members got to enjoy that feeling of appreciation Sept. 4 at Fall Connections, when those who work and teach at NLU came together to rev up energy for the new school year.

What do you hope to accomplish in 2014?

2014A new year brings new plans and new goals. At National Louis, our faculty and staff continue to work hard in the pursuit of providing high-quality education and services to our students — and with that comes a wide range of tasks and projects, inside and outside the classroom.

For me in 2014, I will continue to work on making this blog a platform that best represents the University by showcasing the voices and stories of our students, faculty and staff.
