Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement Leaders Graduate at NLU Nonprofit professionals completed course at NLU

Seventeen Chicago-area non-profit professionals came together June 8 at National Louis University to celebrate their graduation from the Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement’s Nonprofit Leadership Program.

NLU and HACE partnered to develop the curriculum for and present the program, which is designed to develop leadership and professional skills in emerging non-profit leaders.

Sue Neustrom, a Business faculty member in NLU’s College of Professional Studies and Advancement, was the lead instructor for the course. Patricia Mota, HACE’s executive director, led multiple modules, and Judah Viola, dean of NLU’s CPSA, taught one module of the course on program evaluation.

“It was a very collaborative process,” Viola said.

The purpose of the program is to elevate the skills and abilities of up-and-coming nonprofit professionals who devote themselves to serving the Latino communities.  The program presents participants with many opportunities for growth within the industry by allowing them to meet with nonprofit leaders and executives, have access to their peers’ networks, and have the chance to serve on boards, committees, etc.

Further, participants who completed the course were eligible for three graduate studies credit hours from National Louis University. Examples of sessions include “Working Towards Impact” and “Strategic Management Leadership.”

Companies who participated in the program are driven to assist the Latino and diverse communities, along with retaining a talented pipeline of professionals looking to carry out these goals.

“We’ve used this course to advance our careers, learn to network and be a greater part of an asset to our organizations and the communities that we service,” said Jaime Moctezuma, Norwegian Hospital Patient Experience Officer.

“Understanding that our populations of the Latino communities are growing and how we can assist on being better stewards of the community and help our organizations live their missions and visions.”
