Two national media outlets have named National Louis University one of the fastest growing universities in the nation in terms of student applications.
NLU reached the #2 ranking in the nation for growth in student applications over a 10-year period. MSN Money and 24/7 Wall St., a financial news company, published the rankings, compiled from National Center for Education Statistics data.
The number of applications NLU received for the period from 2006 to 2016 rose 1,667.4 percent, according to these news outlets. NLU attributes the growth to Pathways at NLU, a program its leaders and #EdTech experts brainstormed and assembled in 2015.
Pathways addresses these students’ two primary barriers to college. First, to address their academic needs and the fact they are not college-ready, the program provides hands-on success coaches and personalized learning software that requires a student to complete each learning module, with additional instruction if needed, before moving on to the next.
Second, to address these students’ financial barriers to paying college tuition and fees, NLU has instituted a minimal all-in tuition of $10,000 per year, which is reducible to zero with grants.
“We also have a blend of face-to-face and online classes, small class sizes, learning technology that proceeds at the student’s pace, a defined series of courses to keep students focused and Career Bridge services to give students multiple entries into the world of work.” said Aarti Dhupelia, NLU’s vice president of strategic initiatives.
Students will graduate with four-year bachelor’s degrees, which will equip them to find meaningful jobs.
